Dry cleaning

is any cleaning process for clothing and textiles using organic solvents instead of water. [Solvents commonly used tetrachloroethylene are abbreviated by the industry as "perc" and are generally abbreviated as "dry cleaning fluid". Dry cleaning is used to clean materials that are damaged by cleaning them with soap, water or detergents. Dry washing can be used if manual washing of sensitive textiles is difficult.
